Brian Cardin, PT, C.Ped.: I have been practicing in the field of physical therapy & wellness since 1994. As a founder and co-owner of Cardin & Miller Physical Therapy, P.C., and Appalachian Running Company, I have had the opportunity to serve the rehabilitation needs of central Pennsylvania clients since 2006. While helping clients recover following injury or surgical procedure has been rewarding over the years, I am excited about the opportunity to develop preventative wellness programs. I am a firm believer in the concept of active intervention as the best method of preventing disease. As Benjamin Franklin wisely stated, “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure." I live in the Carlisle community. My friends and family are here. I believe this community deserves cutting-edge opportunities to promote overall health and to help prevent avoidable disease. I believe that we have assembled a top-notch group of health experts to do exactly that. The Carlisle UMedGym looks forward to developing lifelong relationships with clients and their physicians to create the most comprehensive approach to addressing their health as possible.
Adam Knapp, MS, AT: I graduated from Lock Haven University in 1996 with a degree in Health Sciences, concentrating in Athletic Training (sports medicine). I have gone on to further my education at Ohio University receiving a Masters in Health and Physical Education, and become a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist. I am a former Certified Athletic Trainer for high schools in Ohio and Pennsylvania. My early career includes consulting for industrial injury prevention, and serving as the Men’s Fitness Director for a YMCA. At that time I was a strength and conditioning coach for several teams and a personal trainer for people of all ages and abilities. Most recently I have worked as an advisor to prospective adult learners seeking alternative ways to pursue post secondary education. I have also recently continued pursuing a certification as a Wellness Coach to assist promoting positive and permanent behavior changes for the members of the UMedGym. The common thread to my roles is to try to help people improve some aspect of their lives. I am currently serving that passion by helping to bring UMedGym to Central PA knowing it may be one of the best venues to change people’s lives for the better. The UMedGym is about taking a proactive stance towards health by starting now to prevent illness and striving for the optimal, whatever the current situation is for an individual: exercise IS medicine. I believe this new mindset has to occur one individual at a time, and I make it my mission to assist the members of the Medgym in any way possible.
David Drinks, CSCS: I am a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), a Certified Health and Wellness Coach (CHWC) through the Wellness Coach Training Institute, and I received my Bachelor’s degree in Sport and Exercise Science from DeSales University. Through my study at DeSales University and experience as a four year starting pitcher on the baseball team, I realized my passion for fitness and exercise. Whether you are training for sport and fitness goals, or training to be the best you can be, I believe in exercise as a way to meet your goals.
Tiffany Waardenburg, RD, LDN, ACSM-CPT: I am a Registered Dietitian with a diverse professional background including culinary arts, nutrition, weight management and exercise. I have graduated magna cum laude from University of Wisconsin-Stout with a Bachelor’s degree in Dietetics and with honors from The Culinary Institute of America with an Associate’s degree in Culinary Arts. I have completed the Certificate of Training in Adult Weight Management to better serve my clients.
More recently, I have expanded my knowledge of exercise by achieving the ACSM Certified Personal Trainer certification. I have work experience in several food service settings including a Forbes Four-Star, AAA Four-Diamond Award winning hotel and a local, organic-based restaurant. My time in the culinary field has provided me with a strong knowledge base of a variety of foods, cooking methods and how to make nutritious, delicious meals for all types of eaters. I am a current member of Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and Pennsylvania Dietetics Association.
In my spare time, I plan meals and cook dinner for an after-school ministry at my church and enjoy spending time outdoors with my husband.
Amy Schach, Manager of Operations: I have been working with Cardin and Miller Physical Therapy since September of 2006. I began my career in the healthcare industry with a leading area orthopedic surgeon and physical therapy practice. That professional experience then paved the way for my positions as a surgical pre and postoperative technician, an ABO certified optician, and a billing specialist for a leading area ophthalmology practice. I have spent much of my time building upon the skills learned from the above positions to provide exceptional knowledge and direction to the staff and patients of Cardin and Miller and am so honored to take on this position for the Carlisle UMedGym I have taken part in continuing education classes to become even more proficient in the areas of insurance coding and billing as well as practice
